HB 4209 Creates the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act which allows for the licensing for medical marihuana growers, processors, transporters, provisioning centers, and safety compliance facilities. HB 4210 would amend the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA) to allow for the use of marihuana infused products. HB 4827 creates the Marihuana Tracking Act, which will establish, maintain, and utilize, directly or by contract, a system to track marihuana that is grown, processed, transferred, stored, or disposed of under the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act.

HB 4493 establishes the requirement that materials are taught on genocide as part of school's 8-12 grade curriculum.

House Democrats resoundingly rejected a warmed-over rehash of the House Republicans’ once-failed roads plan when it was brought up for a vote late Wednesday night. House Republicans managed to outdo themselves by making their failed plan from June even worse by adding on tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires while insisting on a plan that demands $600 million be cut from vitally important programs, including public safety, education and health care. The roads plan was voted out of the House late Wednesday night and will head to the Senate for consideration.

Bill package addresses problems in Detroit, Highland Park, Flint.

The eight-bill package addresses the risks of high volume hydraulic fracturing, otherwise known as “fracking.” The legislation will protect public health and water quality, provide transparency for the people of Michigan, hold drilling companies accountable, and protect the state’s tourism industry.

Rep. Lane urges a No Vote on the package of bills that raises speed limits for rural and urban limited access freeways among various other changes to Michigan transportation law. Rep. Lane stresses that roads should be fixed and safe before speed limits increase.

The amendment would push back the implementation date of the retention aspect of HB 4822 by one year.

The Michigan House of Representatives pays tribute to Representative Daisy Elliot. During her 18 years in the House of Representatives, Daisy Elliott sponsored dozens of bills that became law and was known for her dogged efforts to fight discrimination in the state. Her crowning achievement was co-authorship of the landmark civil rights act which bears her name, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976. It was one of the most sweeping and influential policies of its kind in the entire nation.
Daisy Elliott was a remarkable public servant who worked relentlessly for the betterment of the state and advocated strongly on behalf of workers, senior citizens, women, and minorities who sought equal treatment in Michigan.
Upon her passing, we offer our condolences to her family and friends. We hope that they may find comfort in the knowledge that the community as a whole shares in their bereavement, and that the legacy of Daisy Elliott’s contributions will continue to enhance our state long into the future.
